Abstrak
The objective of this research is to discover the effectiveness of SQ3R method in teaching reading comprehension on the fifth grade of elementary school student. The writer used an experimental method. The population of this research was the students of SDN Bangka 01 Pagi, South Jakarta. The technique of sample is taken from random sampling in one class of fifth grade, which is divided into two groups, twenty students as the experimental class and the other twenty students as a control class. The data that the writer got from the research were using the t-test formula. The research finding show that using SQ3R method is effective on teaching reading comprehension The result is t-observed= 7.11 and t-table= 1.68. Because to > tt, there is a significant effectiveness in teaching student? reading comprehension. Practically through this study the writer hopes that her research will be useful for those concerned with English teaching especially in reading comprehension. It can become input to all English teaching to develop better ways of English teaching program.
