Abstrak
As the stories told by Jews and Christians, Israiliyat is an important jistorical legacy for the ummah. But, ofcourse, the contents itself need a careful responses. Many israiliyat founded on some kitab tafsir (exegesis books) written by muslim scholars, such as: Tafsir Jami' al Bayaan, the work of at Tabari of Iran. This article tries to explicate the stories of Israiliyat in the Kitab Tafsir at Tabari, written in the ninth century. In this findings, he concludes that the stories of Israiliyat can be categorized, according to its truth validity, into three categories: (1) paralel with islamic teaching, (2) contradictive to islam, and (3) value-neutral (maskut' anhu).
