The research was done to find out whether the English summative test item consists of good item in view of facility value and discriminating power. This research was held at M.Ts Negeri 20 Jakarta on August 2009. The population in this research consisted of the seven grade students and the sample were 94 students. The English summative test papers and learners? answer sheets were used for collecting the data. The collected data were put in a spread sheet called tabulation form. From the tabulation form, the portion of the correct responses from the upper and lower group could be counted. Based on the portion, the facility value and the discriminating power were counted using the formula from J. B Heaton. The objective of the research is the multiple choice of the English summative test.
